Global Outreach '08
Short term missions through DBC are an important way we help make disciples at home and abroad for Jesus. Everyone who participates in a mission must go through intentional training and an application process. Below are the trips scheduled for 2008.
If you would like more information about any of these short term missions, contact Jeff Reams.
Jamaica - March 1 - 9
DBC has been committed to serving Jamaica for thirteen years. Our mission is to improve the lives of children throughout the Jamaican Children's Home system. We do this by providing a meaningful week long camp experience and professional training for the social workers on the island. This year we are providing a camp for about sixty 15 - 17 year olds preparing to leave the system and live on their own one day. The camp will invite teens from Children's Homes across the island. We will also provide professional workshops for social workers that care for the children on a daily basis.
Costa Rica - July 19 - 26
Serving through InStep Ministries, we seek to serve through Vacation Bible Sschool presentations of the gospel,, songs, and crafts, light construction, street evangelism, food delivery, and spending time at an orphanage and home for recovering addicts. We are connected to a strong local church and enjoy worshiping with them on this trip.
Canada - July 19 - 26
The Canada mission trip has been canceled for 2008. We remain partnered with Renaissance Church and hope to send a team in 2009.
Venezuela - July 5 - 13
Our mission is to support the discipling ministry of First Baptist, Guanare. We provide leadership for a disciple making conference and lead other evangelistic outreaches in public schools. The conference is attended by pastors from the jungle, some of whome travel days to get there. This short term mission is an extension of our disciple making focused men's ministry that meets on Friday mornings.
