The Dunwoody Baptist Preschool (DBP) was established in 1969. The Weekday Education Ministry includes both Preschool and Playmates. Today, this program has approximately 300 children, ages 9 months to 5 years. We have 20 classes with a staff of almost fifty classroom teachers. The staff also includes two Music teachers, a Movement Education teacher, a Spanish teacher, and a Chapel teacher.
To meet a growing need for longer hours of quality care in a Christian environment, The Georgia Department of Human Resources licensed the Preschool Afternoon Program (now called Extended Day) in 1992.
We are licensed by the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning. We continue to meet and exceed state expectations for preschool centers. Reports of our random visits can be found on the Bright from the Start website - www.brightfromthestart.com.
A high quality early childhood program provides a safe and nurturing environment while promoting the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of young children. In accredited programs, you will see:
- Frequent, positive, warm interactions among adults and children
- Planned learning activities appropriate to children’s ages and development, such as block building, painting, reading stories, dress-up, and outdoor play
- Specially trained teachers
- Enough adults to respond to individual children
- Many varied age-appropriate materials
- A healthy and safe environment for children
- Nutritious meals and/or snacks
- Regular communication with parents who are welcome visitors at all times
- Effective administration
The staff members in our Preschool are professionally prepared as teachers of young children they are sensitive to the needs and interests of the children. Each member is a professional and participates regularly in required workshops and in-service training. Our goal is to nurture and love your child while educating him/her in a Christian environment.
Our church and early childhood teachers are committed to offering each child those activities he/she needs to develop socially, emotionally, intellectually, spiritually, and physically. Our teachers are dedicated to nurturing and loving your child each and every day.
Believing that “Children are a gift from God” (Psalm 127:3), and that Dunwoody Baptist Preschool can provide an environment in which children may grow “In wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man” (Luke 2:40), we are dedicated to the love and nurture of each child as he/she is encouraged to develop socially, spiritually, emotionally, intellectually, and physically. In a creative atmosphere, we offer age and developmentally appropriate activities which meet individual needs and encourage healthy self-esteem. Most of all, we want the children to know that they are acceptable and lovable just as God created them.
