Our Counseling Center offers Christ-centered counseling services for individuals, couples and families. Director, Dr. Sandy Maylen, Ph. D, uses both cognitive and behavioral therapy and reality supportive therapy. She believes counseling is a process that promotes positive change.

Referral Services

If you have specialized needs which we cannot provide, we have a network of professional psychiatrists, Christian psychologists, etc. that we will refer to you.

Seminars & Training

Dr. Maylen has a vision and a passion to work alongside DBC offering various seminars to parents, leaders, couples and singles again. If you are interested in hosting or attending one of the seminars, please email counseling@dbc.org. Seminars can be scheduled for interested groups of 5 or more for Dr. Maylen’s normal hourly counseling rate.

Seminar topics include “How to Raise Happy, Healthy, Self-Confident Children”, “The Molding and Shaping Years”, “Help! I’m the Parent of an Adolescent”, “The Family Matters to God”, “Understanding Yourself: Designed by God’s Hand”, “Living in the Strengths of Your Temperament”, “Starting Over: A Journey to a More Excellent Way”, “Single Parenting” and “Building Relationships that Last”.

Appointments, Fees & More

Call 770.280.1200, ext. 3090 to make an appointment. Please leave your name and phone number. All appointments are scheduled by phone. There will be no charge for initial phone assessments or referrals.

Counseling sessions are 60 minutes long. The fee will be scaled and discussed with the counselor. Dr. Maylen’s mission is to offer affordable counseling. If you are referred to see another specialist, fees will be discussed with that professional.

Contact the counseling office 24 hours in advance if you must cancel an appointment. Appointments can be rescheduled.

Dr. Maylen holds degrees in both clinical and Christian counseling. She is a practicing psychotherapist. Dr. Maylen comes to DBC’s Counseling Center having over 25 years of experience in private practice.
