Dr. John Stott states that the concept of resurrection lies at the very heart of Christianity, and that if you remove it, Christianity is destroyed. With that in mind, let’s examine why the resurrection matters and changes everything.

Zacchaeus’ curiosity led him to climb up in a tree to get away from the crowd and see Jesus. However, he had such a personal encounter with Jesus that it caused him to climb down and take responsibility that led him to action. Let’s examine what it means to be stuck up in a tree and then climb down at the Lord’s bidding.

We’re going to feast! We’re going to have a wonderful time! My son is here – given up for dead and now alive! Given up for lost and now found!” And they began to have a wonderful time. The Pharisees and their religion scholars came to his disciples greatly offended. “What is he doing eating and drinking with crooks and ‘sinners??” Jesus heard about it and spoke up, ”Who needs a doctor: the healthy or the sick? I’m here inviting outsiders, not insiders – an invitation to a changed life, changed inside and out.” Luke 5:30-31
