Meet our Teachers

Bridget Geshrick: BALLET and JAZZ

Ms. Bridget's love of dance began at the early age of 3 years old. Growing up in Atlanta, she studied all forms of dance including Ballet, tap, jazz and modern. Bridget's dedication to dance was apparent from the start. She received a "Perfect Attendance" award for 12 years straight, never missing a lesson at her small childhood studio! She eventually went on to earn her BS degree from Georgia State University majoring in Dance Education. Her concentration has always been to glorify God with her gifts of dance and teaching. Through the 80's and early 90's, Bridget danced and toured with the Chapel Hill Dance ministry and also served as the Director for several years.

Ms. Bridget has taught in many studios in the Atlanta area including North Atlanta Dance Academy and Perimeter Ballet. She began teaching at Dunwoody School for the Arts in 1988 and has loved inspiring hundreds of students to learn, create and dream. Her passion remains to make students feel comfortable and loved while also being pushed to new heights! Ms. Bridget currently lives in Suwanee with her husband, Steve. She enjoys spending time with her family, including her 4 adult children, attending concerts and reading a good book. When she's not teaching dance, she works tirelessly for her clients to achieve their goals of buying or selling real estate.

LAUREN OVERTON: BALLET, JAZZ & HIP HOP

Ms. L performed for the first time before she was even born. Her mother, cast as Mary in the Christmas Story, carried Lauren in her stomach acting in the role of the unborn baby Jesus. Of course her first role involved playing a boy, but that didn't stop her from pursuing her dreams of being a real performer. Her first live performances, cast as in a female role, were under the direction of Jane Hendrix. From there she pursued her love of dance and theater, acquiring over 10 years of professional dance and musical training through various outlets in the Alpharetta and Atlanta area, playing lead roles in shows such as "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe." These events led to her being voted "Most Talented" her senior year of high school, and of course her desire to teach dance to students who love the art of movement as much as she does.

She has chosen to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education and Psychology with Georgia State University, due to her desire to give back to the community what her outstanding teachers gave to her. Between school and teaching dance Ms. L loves performing, as she has performed for artists such as David Guetta and Neyo as a hip-hop performer. Ms. L has also been trained in ballet and gogo/aerobic dancing. When bored Lauren can be found serenading her two dogs, Kona and Dixie, with her ukulele.

Class Information

Dance at DSA addresses the need to move! We emphasize the developmental stages, focusing on body awareness, synchronized movement, spatial exploration, group dances and expressive movement.
