Young at Heart Luncheon

featuring Steve Long, Pianist

Thursday, January 27

Steve Long started playing the piano at the tender age of four, and has been playing ever since. He studied under Gladys Pinkston, who in turn studied under Sergei Rachmaninoff, the Russian composer, virtuoso pianist and conductor. Steve gets his inspiration from Roger Williams and Liberace, and has played in grand hotels all over the world. He has toured with Cary Grant, performed in two concerts with Liberace, and has even worked with Ethel Merman. Steve is especially fond of Gershwin and show tunes, which you will have the pleasure of hearing when he comes to play for us!

Booth Museum Tour

Thursday, January 20

The Booth Museum is the second largest art museum in Georgia, and houses the largest permanent exhibition of Western art in the country. You’ll see contemporary Western art, Western illustrations, Western movie posters, Civil War art, Presidential portraits and letters, authentic stagecoaches, an interactive hands-on gallery based on a working ranch, and more! You’ll want to be a part of this excursion!

We will meet by the Choir Room at 8:15am for an 8:30am departure, traveling on comfort buses. We expect to arrive at the museum by 10 am. When we finish there, we will head to Maine Street Coastal Cuisine in Cartersville for a delicious lunch before returning home.

Cost is $15, which covers the museum admission and a small portion of the bus cost. You’ll be responsible for the cost of your lunch. Space is limited to 30 people. Reservation with payment is due in the Church Office by Thursday, January 13, 2022.

Healthcare & Referral Advice

This pastoral care ministry is available for members and friends of the Dunwoody Baptist Church community. At no cost to participants, we provide advice, recommendations and introductions to those who are recovering from illness or injury, or who are facing difficult decisions related to aging and are in need of resources.

The leader of this ministry, Fran Weigard, is particularly knowledgeable about home care services and providers, hospice care options and long term residential communities. She is available to answer questions, encourage families and connect patients with providers. There is no charge for this assistance. We simply see this ministry as a way to serve our family here at Dunwoody Baptist.

Visitation Ministry

DBC's Visitation Ministry provides a sense of fellowship, belonging and involvement to those who aren't able to get out and about as easily as they used to. We also work to connect these church members to additional DBC ministries that can help them with other needs they may have.

If you know someone who could benefit from this ministry, or if you would like to show the love of Jesus through this ministry, please email Jim Giesler.
