Missions

Key Initiatives - Acts 1:8

Overview

Have you ever wondered, “why should we be sending missionaries to foreign countries when there’s so much need here at home?” There is need for the gospel everywhere and Jesus calls the church to serve both at home and abroad. In Acts 1:8, Jesus told his disciples:

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Our mission includes evangelizing and discipling people, but what does Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria mean to us?

  • At DBC our Jerusalem is in local missions. This includes communities directly surrounding Dunwoody Baptist Church.
  • Our Judea is in regional missions. This includes the greater Atlanta area.
  • Our Samaria is in national missions. This includes the United States and more specifically the southern region.
  • Finally, the “ends of the earth” means international missions and Jesus has always called us to disciple people in other cultures and countries.

Missions work is not confined inside or outside any borders. It simply means being witnesses to the gospel of Christ to all people, everywhere. Continue to explore the many ministries supported by DBC here.
